Special edition of C.F. Martin 000-12E with koa wood on bottom and sides. Built-in pickup system.
This special edition of Martin's 000-12E western guitar has been upgraded with exotic koa on the back and sides - while the top is still built in solid sitka spruce. In addition to quality wood, this guitar is built with a Richlite fingerboard and a hand-polished neck finish for comfortable access to all 20 frets. Like the 000-12E, the Koa model also features a Fishman MX-T pickup system with built-in tuner for convenient amplification and recording.
Compared to a dreadnought guitar, the 000-12E model is both thinner (about 16 mm) and slimmer. This results in a guitar that is comfortable and easy to play, while having a very focused midrange - something that many fingerstyle guitarists and solo artists look for in their guitar. The smaller body size doesn't provide quite the same powerful bass as a dreadnought model, but the 000-12E still delivers a noticeably firm bass, a warm and focused midrange and a great overtone richness in the treble range.
The strength and elasticity of the spruce top provides a sound with a wide dynamic range and crisp articulation suitable for a wide range of playing styles. The spruce top is complemented by the exotic koa wood that adds sweetness and clarity. Another advantage of koa wood is that it is a wood that is very willing to mature, so you'll soon find that the sound of the guitar unfolds and becomes deeper than it was when you bought it.
