When it comes to accessories for stringed instrumentsthe guitar is one of the most demanding instruments. Even if you have an ordinary acoustic guitar, you need accessories. At the very least, a good case to store or transport the guitar in. You may also need a footstool if you play classical music, which is often played sitting down.
If you play, the list of relevant equipment and accessories grows rapidly. Of course, you don't have to run out and buy it all. Exactly what equipment or accessories you need depends on what you play and where you play. Start with standard accessories for your guitar
You can also start with a range of standard equipment and expand from there as you learn more about your instrument and your needs. If we were to make a checklist for you of the most commonly used guitar accessories, it would look something like this:
- Cables
- Tuner
- Strap (if you prefer to stand while playing)
- Picks (preferably a handful - they tend to disappear)
- Stand to put the guitar down when you're not playing (e.g. on stage)
- Oils and tools for guitar maintenance
- Bag or case to store the guitar for longer periods of time or transport it safely from place to place
