In collaboration with legendary artist Steve Gadd, Yamaha has optimized the iconic Recording Custom series with new design elements that deliver a refined and focused sound with improved rounded and deeper tone. All-North American birch 6-ply heads with 30 degree bearing edges are complemented by the newly designed Hi Tension lug, weighted to emphasize the lower frequencies. The result is a drum that is both easier to use and tune, redefining the classic signature sound. Suitable for all types of drumming in all situations.
The refined modern design retains the traditional essence of Recording Customs. To maximize the damping properties of birch wood, we've made the lugs heavier, further enhancing the artist's expression and reducing unwanted noise from the boiler without the use of a damper. This ensures optimal reverberation on the core sound and a crisp, distinct tone.
In addition to their powerful sound, birch kettles are known for reducing unwanted noise and preventing interference when drums are placed next to each other.
