The JS model, which has been Joe Satriani’s main instrument for many years, is something of a rare bird in the Ibanez lineup. Featuring a neck profile and overall playing feel that differ noticeably from typical Ibanez designs, it stands apart from the company’s more conventional offerings. The playing experience could best be described as modern vintage—it is quite clear where Joe drew his inspiration when developing the JS.
This is a guitar where Joe clearly prioritized tone, playing comfort, width, and—above all—tone. The JS model is simply an exceptionally appealing tone machine with outstanding playability. The “Gold Boy” is without question the most iconic JS model ever produced.
Bridge: EDGE
The bridge is Ibanez’s classic EDGE tremolo, a thoroughly proven, top-tier system that has become the benchmark for performance and durability in floating tremolos. Widely regarded as one of the finest locking tremolo systems ever made, it features a knife-edge pivot design that delivers an exceptionally smooth and responsive feel.
With basic maintenance and sensible handling, it will hold tuning for a lifetime (ours, not the bridge’s).
The tremolo arm holder is compatible with the UTA20 Ultralite Tremolo Arm™.
