The S1070PBZ is an S model in the Ibanez Premium series.
Premium is a relatively new series of guitars and basses in the Ibanez range, straddling the line between the Prestige and Standard series. The series can best be described as wanting to build a top-quality instrument in a cheaper production country, all to keep the price tag down for the end consumer.
With the Premium instruments, you get great quality for the money you pay, both sound and playability are of the highest quality. Details like neck pocket mounting, control room shielding, fret sanding, etc. are top notch.
The S model has a thin, flexible, comfortable body with a slightly curved top (front shell). A rounder and softer cut guitar than the more angular RG model.
The model is a real sonic chameleon that easily handles everything from soft pop to metal.
The body is made of mahogany with a beautiful Poplar Burl top, a combination that sonically goes in the warmer and softer direction. The treble is slightly softly rounded, but without losing clarity, separation or sustain. The neck is glued in 11 layers and the fingerboard is made of rosewood, with stainless steel frets. Lockable MG-T mechanics from Gotoh.
