The Epiphone Hummingbird™ Studio EC is part of the brand-new Epiphone Studio Acoustic Collection. These guitars have been completely reimagined to offer the most authentic and affordable acoustic guitars inspired by iconic Gibson designs. The Hummingbird Studio EC combines modern functionality with classic design and appeals equally to beginners and experienced musicians.
Based on the legendary Gibson Hummingbird acoustic guitar – which, since its introduction in 1960, has been a favorite among musicians across a wide range of genres – the Hummingbird Studio EC features a square-shoulder dreadnought body with a cutaway for easier access to the higher frets. This model delivers a rich, balanced tone with excellent projection, making it an ideal choice for exploring a wide spectrum of musical styles.
The Hummingbird Studio EC features a layered mahogany body with six-ply antique ivory and black binding on the top and four-ply antique ivory and black binding on the back, complemented by a solid spruce top for a responsive, balanced tone with excellent dynamic range—a sound that only improves over time. The mahogany neck is glued to the body with a tapered dovetail joint and has a rounded C profile for comfortable playability. The neck is fitted with a bound rosewood fingerboard with 20 standard frets and adorned with the classic split parallelogram inlays, one of the hallmarks of the Hummingbird design.
The strings run over a compensated plastic saddle and are anchored to the distinctive belly-up rosewood bridge with ivory-colored bridge pins. Additional details that enhance the Hummingbird Studio EC’s vintage-inspired visual appeal include a Hummingbird tortoiseshell pickguard with iconic Hummingbird graphics, high-quality Grover® Rotomatic® tuning machines for precise and stable tuning, and a ’60s Kalamazoo-inspired headstock featuring the Epiphone logo and Gibson crown in pearloid inlay.
The Hummingbird Studio EC is equipped with Fishman M electronics, including an S-Core under-saddle pickup and a Fishman Presys II preamp with side-mounted controls for volume, bass, treble, and phase. It also features a convenient built-in electronic tuner that makes tuning quick and easy. The Epiphone Hummingbird Studio EC has a gloss finish and is available in two vintage-inspired colors: Natural and Heritage Cherry Sunburst. Both right- and left-handed models are available. A standard gig bag is included.
