D'Addario XL ProSteels is an unpolished spun steel string on a solid hexagonal steel core. The string's most prominent characteristic is the clear, open and harmonically rich treble combined with the tight and clear bass. These characteristics provide a string that noticeably improves string separation when playing chords and clear note separation when playing riffs and solos. Metal alloy gives the string a little more magnetism, which means it has a little more output, and also holds its tone longer than a regular nickel-plated string. ProSteels are for those who play in a low tone or with a lot of distortion and need separation and/or a clearer sound.
