The combination of spruce and rosewood is, for many acoustic guitarists, the ideal combination of woods for a western guitar. The combination of spruce and rosewood gives the guitar plenty of volume and clarity with a very distinctive bass that is deeper than if mahogany had been used.
The Sigma S000R-1 is a 6-string western guitar that Sigma has built based on Martin's 000 model. Compared to a dreadnought guitar, the 000 model is both thinner (approx. 16 mm) and slimmer. This gives a guitar that is comfortable and easy to play, while also having a very focused midrange - something that many fingerstyle guitarists and solo artists are looking for in their guitar. The smaller body size does not give quite the same powerful bass as a dreadnought model, but the S000R-1 still delivers a noticeably firm bass, a warm and focused midrange and a great richness of overtones in the treble range.
One of the components that makes the S000R-1 comfortable to play is its low-profile mahogany neck. The neck is comfortable to hold in your hand and its thin profile allows you to jump effortlessly from chord to chord. The low-profile neck works brilliantly in combination with the guitar's micarta fingerboard, which ensures that you can glide effortlessly along the fingerboard.
