Sapele, used for the back and sides of the OMC-10E Modern, shares tonal similarities with mahogany but produces a slightly brighter sound with more treble. The characteristic sapele tone is finely balanced between bass, midrange, and treble, making it suitable for many different playing styles.
The Orchestra Model (better known as the "OM") is considered Martin’s most versatile body shape. It combines the comfort of a 000 model with the bright and lively tone produced by a longer scale length. In fact, the only significant difference between Martin’s OM and 000 models is the scale length: the 000 has a 24.9" scale, while the OM boasts a 25.4" scale—the same as Martin’s historic dreadnought models. This means Martin’s OM guitars offer an outstanding balance of size and volume, exceptional tonal balance, and ample projection. As the icing on the cake, the OMC-10E combines the OM model’s flexibility with a practical cutaway, providing easier access to the upper frets.
