Originally introduced in 1931, it has undergone numerous design evolutions over nearly a century of production. With the 2025 model, Martin turns back the clock, reintroducing several design elements from the D-18’s vintage era.
The updated D-18 now features a solid spruce top supported by Golden Era forward-shifted X-bracing, maximizing responsiveness and delivering a more resonant playing experience. Traditional mahogany back and sides provide the warm, punchy, bass-rich tone that cuts effortlessly through bluegrass ensembles as well as rock, country, and pop mixes. Its hardwood neck, shaped to a Golden Era Modified Low Oval profile with a 1.75" nut width, offers fast, comfortable playability for high-speed flatpickers, fingerstyle players, and strummers alike.
