EXPANDED SOFTSYNTH PLUGIN (ESP)
The Expanded Softsynth Plugin (ESP) is a groundbreaking feature for musicians, recreating the MONTAGE M inside your preferred digital audio workstation (DAW). ESP is free for all registered MONTAGE M owners and allows you to create, edit, and mix MONTAGE M performances wherever you are — without the hardware — offering an unprecedented level of stage and studio integration. The initial version includes the full MONTAGE M sound set but is limited to basic editing functions. The full version will be available in Summer 2024.
FASTER AND MORE INTUITIVE NAVIGATION
Enhanced navigation enables fast and intuitive sound editing and operation. Features include a new 512 × 64 LCD display, six touchscreen buttons, and a PAGE JUMP button that transfers content from the LCD screen to the larger 7" TFT color touchscreen for deeper editing. A dedicated navigation button also provides an overview of a Performance. Simply touch a graphical object on the screen to jump directly to the corresponding parameter for advanced editing. The dedicated navigation controls allow you to move instantly from the “surface” of a sound to its deepest parameters.
USB MIDI AND MULTICHANNEL AUDIO INTERFACE
MONTAGE M streamlines your studio setup with a USB MIDI and multichannel 32-output / 6-input audio interface. Simplify MIDI recording, virtual instrument monitoring, and multitrack audio recording through a single USB cable, giving you more time to focus on creativity.
NEW AN-X ENGINE
The AN-X Engine is a revolution in authentic analog sound, control, and behavior, recreating the warmth and classic character of analog synthesizers with a wide range of sophisticated modulation capabilities.
- Three oscillators with five waveforms (Saw 1, Saw 2, Triangle, Square, and Sine) plus Noise Generator
- Two filters with 10 filter types
- Pulse Width Modulation
- Oscillator Self Sync
- Ring Modulation, FM, and Waveshaping
- Amp EG with Drive
- LFO for both amplitude and filter modulation
- Voltage drift and aging parameters to simulate vintage synth behavior
Integrated into the Motion Control system, the AN-X Engine allows you to create expressive and uniquely analog sounds.
ENHANCED AWM2
Experience exceptional realism and detail with MONTAGE M’s enhanced AWM2 engine. Offering an incredible 128 Elements per Part, AWM2 enables smoother transitions and provides an expansive canvas for ultra-high-definition sound creation, especially for recognizable sounds such as pianos and strings.
400 NOTES OF TOTAL POLYPHONY
A significant upgrade from the original MONTAGE’s 256-note polyphony, MONTAGE M offers up to 400 notes of polyphony across its three sound engines:
- 128 notes for AWM2 Preset Waveform Parts
- 128 notes for AWM2 User Waveform Parts
- 128 notes for FM-X Parts
- 16 notes for AN-X Parts
UPGRADED PRESET WAVE AND FLASH MEMORY
MONTAGE M offers twice the memory capacity of its predecessor, increasing Preset Wave memory from 5.67 GB to 9.97 GB and User Flash memory from 1.75 GB to 3.8 GB. In addition, you gain access to a wide range of new sounds and instruments, including pianos, orchestral instruments, drums, and much more.
FM-X
MONTAGE M revives Yamaha’s legacy of expressive and dynamic FM synthesis with its 8-operator FM-X engine, capable of producing a vast range of tones — from crisp and bell-like to edgy and aggressive, as well as soft and evolving textures. It is the perfect complement to the AWM2 and AN-X engines.
VCM ROTARY AND DRAWBAR BEHAVIOR
Using sophisticated modeling technology, the VCM Rotary Speaker effect recreates the rich and immersive motion of a classic rotary speaker cabinet. In addition, the new organ drawbar fader mode emulates the vintage “pull-out” drawbar organ response.
16 LIBRARY SLOTS
With 16 available Library slots, you can store up to 10,240 additional Performances — in addition to the more than 2,700 preset Performances — enabling fast searches by category, name, and attributes.
PURE ANALOG CIRCUIT 2
The upgraded Pure Analog Circuit included in MONTAGE M reduces noise while improving dynamic range, crosstalk, low-frequency phase response, and distortion performance, resulting in clearer sound at all volume levels. You will also notice greater detail in the low-midrange and high frequencies.
