Carl Martin classifies the Panama pedal as an overdrive, and since they are the ones who created it, we’ll stick with that (though I’d personally call it a distortion). The Panama aims to capture the sound of a hot-rodded Marshall Plexi—very similar to the distortion associated with EVH.
In addition to the standard gain, level, and tone controls, the Panama features a "damping" control that allows you to adjust the pedal's bass response from loose to tight.
