The ARP Pro Soloist (model 2701) is an iconic, monophonic analog synthesizer released by ARP Instruments in 1972. It was primarily designed as a live instrument to be placed on top of a home organ and offer quick sound changes without complex programming. Despite its simple front panel, it featured groundbreaking technology and became a staple of 1970s progressive rock and funk.

    • 30 Non-Programmable Presets: Organised into orchestral and experimental banks (e.g., Flute, Violin, Mute Trumpet, Space Reed, and Fuzz Guitar) selectable via toggle paddle switches.
    • Revolutionary Aftertouch: Known as "Touch Sensor Effects," the pressure-sensitive keyboard let players expressively trigger pitch bend, vibrato, wow, growl, volume, and brilliance (filter cutoff) in real-time.
    • Under-the-Hood Synthesis: While it used a single oscillator (cleverly deriving a sawtooth shape from pulse waves to save on production costs), it utilized a 4034 four-pole low-pass filter alongside a unique bank of fixed frequency resonator band-pass filters to dynamically mimic acoustic instruments.
    • Digital/Analog Hybrid: It was historically significant for utilizing primitive digital ROM logic to route its analog signal paths for preset recalling
