Most reviewers agree - it's very hard to feel and hear the difference between the American hand-built PRS luxury guitars and the Korean-built SE models. The differences are in the details, and with the SE models, you get an awful lot for your money. Nowhere is this more evident than in "Paul's Guitar SE", which is where it all started; Paul Reed Smith's original idea of what an electric guitar should be
In addition to the clean tone and immediate playability, Paul's Guitar SE features TCI "S" pickups, which are characterized by a classic vintage sound. There are also two mini-switches that switch the function between volume and tone control on the pots for each pickup. This reduces the number of physical controls in an elegant way. Both pickups can be switched between humbucker and single coil, so the sound can always be customized to the task. This is the first SE model to be equipped with these electronics, otherwise reserved for the Private Stock and Core models.
