Arturia MiniFreak 49 – Hybrid Polysynth
The MiniFreak 49 is an experimental and expressive hybrid synthesizer designed to inspire creative exploration. Featuring two digital sound engines, polyphonic analog filters and advanced modulation capabilities, it is built to shape and transform sound in real time. Filter FM takes the sound from smooth and organic to aggressive and raw, while Voice Panning expands the stereo image, giving basses, pads and textures impressive width. The expanded hands-on controls make it easy to colour, shape and radically transform sounds without interrupting the creative flow.
Touch, Press, Transform
The XYZ touch matrix combines performance control, modulation and navigation on a single surface. By sliding, tapping and applying pressure, multiple parameters can be controlled simultaneously, offering an intuitive and immediate way to shape sound. Colour-coded modulation routing, swipe-based preset navigation and animated visual feedback bring every patch to life and encourage spontaneous sound design.
Unexpected Versatility
The MiniFreak 49 moves effortlessly between familiar territory and experimental sound design. Its two digital engines offer more than 30 oscillator modes, ranging from virtual analog and FM synthesis to wavetable, granular, sampling and physical modelling. Each voice passes through its own analog filter, adding character and dynamic response, even to the most unconventional sounds. The updated preset library provides inspiring starting points for both beginners and experienced sound designers.
An Expressive Playing Experience
The full-size 49-key semi-weighted keyboard, with velocity sensitivity and monophonic aftertouch, provides ample room for chords, melodies and two-handed playing. The aluminium pitch-bend and modulation wheels are ideally positioned for immediate, hands-on control. The sequencer and arpeggiator keep ideas moving, while MiniFreak V provides a fully featured software counterpart for DAW integration, preset management and bidirectional control.
