The SG Standard '61 returns to the classic design that made it iconic, sought after, and beloved—helping shape the sound of generations and countless musical genres. It is now also available in eye-catching custom colors.
In 1961, the Les Paul™ model was discontinued, and an entirely new design evolved into what we now know as the SG™, or "Solid Guitar." The Gibson SG Standard '61 stays true to the original design, featuring a slim Slim Taper™ mahogany neck and a bound rosewood fingerboard. The mahogany body features the signature deep bevels, a 5-ply teardrop pickguard, and a neck joint at the 22nd fret.
The nickel-plated hardware includes a classic Tune-O-Matic™ bridge and Keystone tuners. The guitar is equipped with 60s Burstbucker™ humbucking pickups that deliver the classic vintage tone with added power and enhanced high-end clarity. The electronics feature audio taper potentiometers and Orange Drop® capacitors. A molded hardshell case is also included.
