  • A 3/4-size children’s electric guitar from Beaton
  • With 3 single-coil pickups and a 5-way switch
  • Basswood body and maple neck

The Beaton Legend Mini is an excellent electric guitar, especially suited as an introductory instrument for beginners and younger aspiring guitarists.

The Legend Mini is a 3/4-size electric guitar, meaning it is 1/4 smaller than a full-size electric guitar. This makes it particularly suitable for children aged 6 to 10, as it is much easier to handle than a full-size instrument. Like its bigger sibling, the Beaton Legend, the Beaton Legend Mini is a fully functional electric guitar featuring three single-coil pickups, volume and tone controls, and a 5-way pickup selector that provides a wide range of tonal options. It also comes with a comfortable maple neck, a rosewood fingerboard, and a chrome hardtail bridge. The Legend Mini is perfect for smaller hands and is designed so you can get started playing electric guitar safely and comfortably.

How to choose the right guitar size for children

When selecting a guitar for a child, arm length is a far more accurate measure than age. Children of the same age can vary significantly in height and body size, and an oversized guitar is one of the most common reasons beginners lose motivation. Measure the child’s arm from the shoulder joint to the wrist while the arm is held straight out to the side. Use the measurement as a guide:

44–48 cm: 1/4 size
48–52 cm: 1/2 size
52–58 cm: 3/4 size
56–60 cm: 7/8 size
58+ cm: 4/4 (full size)

The 7/8 size sits between 3/4 and full size and is often a good choice for larger children or teenagers who are almost ready for an adult model, but for whom a full-size guitar still feels slightly too big. If the child falls between two sizes, we generally recommend choosing the smaller one. The guitar body should feel natural against the body, and the child should be able to reach the first frets comfortably without overstretching. The correct size makes learning easier, more comfortable, and far more enjoyable.
