What do you use lighting effects and smoke machines for?

You can use lighting effects for pretty much anything that happens on stage. From stand-up comedy to your favorite band or huge orchestra. Anything involving a dance floor is also ideal for lighting and smoke effects. It can be private parties like weddings and graduation parties. Or it could be larger events like corporate parties and city celebrations.

Light and smoke set a mood and tell a story.

How does a smoke machine work?

Smoke machines create the coolest effect when combined with lights, but how does a smoke machine actually work? Technically, it's not smoke that comes out of the machine. It's smoke liquid that heats up and turns into vapor.

Therefore, the "smoke" does not settle in the walls like regular tobacco smoke. Your smoke alarm is probably also unaffected by the smoke machine. Many people ask if the "smoke" is dangerous to humans and animals. It is not. Smoke fluid is typically a mineral oil that does not harm the respiratory tract.

If you want to get a little extra out of your smoke machine, you can set up a few rotating lamps with colored lights. This will make the smoke look colored and give a cool disco-like effect.

The ultimate disco party

Have you caught the disco fever? You're not the only one. The disco party never really goes out of style. It's like the party theme of them all.

The disco wave hit in the 1970s with discos, John Travolta, Bee Gees and Abba. Many of the best disco hits we can easily sing along to today too.

Do you have your disco party playlist sorted? If not, you can find inspiration in this list of some of the greatest disco hits:

  • Anything with Abba, but especially Dancing Queen, Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! and Voulez Vous
  • Anything Bee Gees, but especially Stayin' Alive, You Should Be Dancing and Jive Talkin'
  • Pointer Sisters with I'm So Excited
  • Sister Sledge with We Are Family
  • Gloria Gaynor with I Will Survive

You'll definitely recognize some of these huge hits in the disco genre. They're practically immortal. If you want to mix some Danish music into the playlist, it's a bit more difficult. There isn't a lot of Danish disco music, but Tommy Seebach and his band have been responsible for a few over the years. Try putting on Tommy Seebach's "Disco Tango" from 1979. Then there's no doubt about the theme of the party.

If you want to run the disco theme throughout the party, the best advice is to go all in with bright colors and lighting effects. Bright colors in decorations, clothes and drinks. Bright colors in lights and lamps. And sparklers. Use sparklers.
